Oh, bb, it’s Fri-yay! That can only mean one thing: weekend time’s upon us once again, and it’s time to talk holiday weekend plans. I came down w/ COVID earlier this week. It was halfway through the day, or a little over that when I started feeling like I’d been hit by a 5 ton wrecking ball at Mach 10 speed. As soon as I got home, I took the test, and it came back positive. it was all I could do to duke out the walk to and from the bus stop that day. After the test came back positive, which I hoped like hell wasn’t the case, I came into my mom’s old room, and took the wand massager I got plugged in to my legs and feet.
Seriously, this felt like just what the doctor ordered, haha.
I’ve been home, and losing my marbles ever since. I’ve been feeling nothing but guilt, and feeling like a miserable, worthless, rotten, garbage failure the whole time, just like that one recruiter told me I was. It just wasn’t in those specific words, but that was my takeaway nonetheless.
In the past, I had no choice but to work while I was sick. Otherwise, there was hell to pay. I still can’t help but feel like the other shoe’s gonna drop, and I’ll reap the consequences.
I got my other job next week, and according to the CDC, I can come in safe by then, just w/ a mask like I always do. I wanna consider this a good way to make it up to everyone. On the other hand, maybe I’m just being off-base about this in a way, if that makes sense.
Over to you, readers. What’re your long holiday weekend plans? I’d love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started!
To ring in the long holiday weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.
I’d love to try these cinnamon rolls out sometime. I can already tell it’ll be a million times better than this one place’s monstrously-overpriced and quarter-assed attempt at cinnamon rolls.
Love the look of this recipe for pastitsio! I’d love to try this out sometime, and see how it goes.
Ways to create a great charcuterie board for the holiday season. This reminds me of the little charcuterie boards I used to make for myself years back.
I got some dried lentils and some rice knocking around in the pantry. Time to get some onions, so I can make this mujadara, haha.
Jelly Roll held a toy drive, and he needed an 18-wheeler to get it all to the Last Minute Toy Store, an initiative for families in times of need.
As a heads-up, this link contains mentions of abuse, so give it a miss if you’re not in the headspace to see or hear about this stuff. A great read on how Discord’s using machine learning to fight csam.
Another heads-up, this link contains mention of abuse and consent violations, to put it nice. This post about how the unnamed survivor went through absolute hell at the hands of someone she was supposed to be able to trust. She got the justice rightfully owed to her. To whoever this survivor is, I want you to know I’m so sorry he did you like that, and that you didn’t deserve his evil dogshit behavior. I hope he rots in jail forever.
In other news, we lost Andre Braugher to lung cancer at 61. Too damn young, imo. Rest in peace, Andre!
A piece about the disappearance of Johnny Gosch, 41 years later. I can’t help but wonder if genetic genealogy could help in this case, if for no other reason than to rule out whatever. But anyways, I hope they find out what happened to him, pronto. Noreen deserves answers, and she deserved em forever ago. This is the link to Johnny’s listing on the NCMEC site. He is now 54 years old, but the poster shows an age-progressed photo to 51 years old.
Just as Johnny Gosch is considered long-term missing, so is Amber Jenkins of Kankakee, IL. The last confirmed sighting of Amber was on September 11th, 2001. She’s now 38 years old, and in the poster is an age-progressed photo to 35 years old. The poster also mentions that she has a tattoo that reads “A.J.” on her upper right thigh, along w/ a stone-shaped scar on her upper left arm.
On that note, a signal boost for a more recent missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 15-year-old Falyn Cain-Reed of Belmont, NC was on October 26th, 2023. No other details are mentioned in the poster beyond this.
The AMBER Alert for Keshaun Williams is still ongoing. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of Keshaun, Falyn, Johnny, or Amber after the date of their last confirmed sightings, make that call. Let’s get these kids home to those who care about em, just in time to ring in the new year.
