Happy New Year 2025

It’s hard to believe it’s New Years Eve already, but here we are. Soon it’ll be Happy New Year 2025! I started writing this just before I head out for my summer job, and still recovering from getting one of my remaining wisdom teeth pulled. Throughout the day, things felt like they dragged on by, and yet went by quick at the same time. As soon as I got to the spot I’d be at for the day, I realized I forgot to bring home the silver travel mug that I’d colored over w/ the acrylic markers I picked up at TJ Maxx last summer.

I’d been looking everywhere for those, and now that I think about it, I need to do a little touch-up on the design I drew on the travel mug, since it’s wearing off.

My original plan for this evening was to stop somewhere first before heading downtown, but the place I wanted to stop at wasn’t open, which I saw as the bus passed by.

No worries. I can always get that sorted out when things open up again later this week, once I get done at my day job.

I heard about an early NYE celebration at a place in town, and I stayed on the bus until we got downtown. There was no way I was gonna meet my step goal, not w/ how crappy I’m feeling, but I’ll be damned if I don’t go down w/o a fight on that one, haha.

As soon as I got to the place, it was standing room only, and I was in the back. I didn’t see much of it, but I heard it, and that was enough for me.

After the show ended, I decided I’d kill some time in there before the bus I was hoping to catch was scheduled to leave the station, factoring in the walk back there. It took a bit longer than I remembered, but then again, I’m not normally feeling this lousy.

It was time to call it a day, cut my losses, and get the next bus home. As I walked in the ice-cold darkness, I got to thinking about what the year ahead will be like. I’m not gonna lie, I’m feeling real scared about it, and I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.

I’m glad I came home when I did. Otherwise, I’d have missed the New Years Eve 2025 Fireworks Around the World livestream on Tubi. I’m watching it as I work on this post. It’s become a New Years Eve tradition for me, and someday soon I hope to find someone to share that w/. Even if that’s just my future kids, it’s all good w/ me.

This coming year, I have some personal goals to work toward, one of which is taking my empties project more seriously, and start using what I got first and foremost. I got stuff knocking around the house that’s lived here long enough, and it’s time to put it to good use. I’ve been watching some de-influencing stuff on YouTube, and I’m taking some of the ideas to heart.

Like the idea of thinking about whether or not I’ll get bored w/ it a week into getting a new planner/journal thing. In the past, that was exactly how it played out for me, w/o fail. I saw that a journal/planner was in this week’s Aldi Finds, and I’ve decided against it, even though I saw a couple designs I liked and matched my aesthetic.

No sense going to all that trouble to get it, only to get bored w/ it or forget about it a week or a month into it.

In my neck of the woods, this year is almost over. It’s already 2025 in other parts of the world, and at this point, it may as well be 2025 already.

We’ve made it through December. Another year is behind us, and now we got a clean slate. The holiday season is officially over. Happy New Year, readers!
