Does everybody know what time it is? Tool Time! Ok, ok, I’m totally messin’ with you. But today’s Friday, and that means another weekend’s upon us. My weekend plans are to go to the farmer’s market, and also hopefully I’ll have a chance to go to the pool. If not the pool, then the splash pad at the park not far from my house will totally work. I’ve already been there twice. I would’ve gone there last week when I walked by, but let’s just say it was the wrong time of the month for it, haha.
The work’s dried up at my day job right now, so I’m gonna finish off the last of what I’ve taken on and fire that off ASAP. I’m also gonna continue job hunting, even for something part-time at this point.
But enough about me. What are your weekend plans? Drop ’em like they’re hot below, and let’s get the party started.
To kick off the weekend, I’ve included some links for us to talk about, share, what have you.
OMFG, this post really makes me wanna visit Paris sometime. I’ve been wanting to go to Paris ever since I saw the Disney version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame when I was 10. Anyways, I feel like a Francophile mood’s coming on strong, haha.
Haven’t made actual jalapeno poppers in a long time. I may have to make these sometime soon. I’ve got some potato chips living in my pantry for way too long that I could probably use in place of the bread crumbs this recipe calls for.
Speaking of which, this cookie recipe also calls for potato chips! Once I get through my current batch of cookies, this may be next.
These banana pops look like so much fun to make.
I’d love to make this vanilla extract sometime soon. I’ve been wanting to make some for a long time, and I finally found the glass bottle I got for it before we moved, haha. Now I just gotta get my hands on some vanilla beans. I know the type of vodka I’m getting, but I’m gonna hold off on it until I get the beans.
While we’re on the subject of gastronomics, I’ve got a can of evaporated milk knocking around my pantry. I’m totally gonna use it for this recipe for cheese dip. Velveeta dip? Who’s she? Never heard of her, lol. Anyway, that Velveeta dip recipe that’s been a thing since sliced bread was all the rage is vile af, imo.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s daughter;s name, Lilibet Diana is also a tribute to Meghan’s mom!
How Mickey Guyton got her start in what’s shifted to a homogenized genre. Country has historically been a diverse and inclusive genre in music, and the way it went toward excluding people is sad on so many levels.
In other news, a foundation that actively sought out college students of Native American heritage, and tribally enrolled students, flipped the script and screwed them over in so many ways. It’s beyond disgusting, and shameful that they’d do this to one of the most marginalized groups of people in our society.
Leonard Crow Dog died last weekend. He was married to Mary Brave Bird, who died in 2013.
This post talks about the way resident retaliation is a thing in the medical community, and it’s sickening on so many levels. It’s part of the abuse and suicides going on in this industry, and that needs to stop. Seriously, if this was going on at somewhere like American Eagle Outfitters or Five Below, the place would be shut down yesterday, and the perpetrators would be hauled off to jail just as fast.
If any of you are new here, I’ve mentioned the heartbreaking story of Amina and Sarah Said, and their murder in 2008 in Irving, TX. Their murderer then spent the next 12 years on the lam, along with their older brother charged in January for harboring a fugitive and obstruction of justice. Last week, federal authorities arrested their murderer’s brother, also for the same shyt. Their murderer’s brother will be spending 12 years in prison. Good.
There’s progress in the talks to ban menthol ciggies. If it were up to me, I’d have banned ’em yesterday. This article goes on to talk about the tobacco industry preying on minority communities, and what they’re dealing with, not counting the industry’s marketing tactics. Seriously, though, smoking’s so damn self-destructive (not to mention nasty and expensive af), and I’ve got front-row seats to the damage it causes people.
Last but not least, a signal boost for a missing 16 year old boy from Bayonne, NJ. According to the poster, he may also travel to the Lakewood, NJ area. If you see a boy matching his description, make that call. Let’s bring Usmaan Nawaz home to his family and friends, safe and sound.
