Yikes, what a week this has been! For me, it’s been one of those where it’s been so long, and so short at the same time. If it wasn’t one thing, it was ten others going sideways for me. It’s hard to believe we’re coming up on Labor Day already. My weekend plans are to get the last of the day job stuff done, and since the assignments seem to be hitting a lull, I’m gonna take this opportunity to do the other stuff I didn’t do while I was pulling multiple all-nighters in a row just to keep from drowning with it. I had plans to go to the amusement park for the last weekend of the water park, but a certain time of the month’s thrown that out the window for me. So instead it’ll be the farmers’ market, possibly a trip to Wally World thrown in, and if I’m feeling up to it, I may hit up some shops on the south side of town I haven’t been to since college.
My main computer’s on the fritz, and while I have a fair idea as to what’s going on with it, I wanted to get in touch with the computer shop we’ve frequented for years before I do anything with it or bite the bullet and take a Lyft out there. Still waiting to hear back from them, and if I don’t hear back from them by tomorrow, I’m gonna go explore other options. I’ve left messages for them, but I’m betting they’re backlogged beyond belief with what’s been going on these days.
In the meantime, I’m borrowing a family member’s computer, and familiarizing myself with Windows 10 in the process. Not a fan of it so far, haha.
But anyways, enough about me. How about you. What are your weekend plans? Drop ’em like they’re hot below, and let’s get the party started.
To ring in the long weekend, I’ve got some links for us to talk about, share, what have you.
OMG, I used this site back in high school! It’s a super-long story, and it could probably be its’ own post, haha. Anyways, the site looks nothing like I remember it, but it’s a nice little trip down memory lane all the same.
This recipe for lemongrass beef stew looks like a ton of fun to make. There’s a market in my neighborhood that has most of this stuff, so I may have to hit them up sometime soon for ’em.
Ways to prepare for college. College wasn’t on my radar screen until senior year, and my only option was community college due to lack of money, and my shyt-poor grades anyway. In any case, it’s something to file away for the future, eh?
Ways to vet a potential daycare. I’ll definitely be filing this away for the future. [EDIT 2-26-2023: The original link is gone, and so’s the site. I’ll see what I can come up w/ instead.]
How to pack for a beach vacation. This isn’t in the cards for me anytime soon, probably never will be, but it’s fun to file it away just because.
Germany looks like a fun place to visit someday. I hope I get the chance to go, but if not, I can always watch the Roku channel out of Germany that I added to the app list before the move, and also read about it in stuff like this post.
Great post about a low porosity curly hair care routine. Mine’s definitely this, but more waves than curls, thick, with some texture to it. And almost to my butt.
How to not let other people’s opinions drag you down. I so needed this reminder. [EDIT 2-26-2023: The original link is gone, and so’s the site. I’ll see what I can come up w/ instead.
Warning: this post contains mention of assault and child sexual abuse spanning several years toward someone related to their family. If you’ve seen Bill Brockbrader or know anything about his location, make that call. The U.S. Marshals are after him for failing to register as a sex offender, and John Walsh talked about him on his new show. Let’s do Janalyn and any other victims he’s gotten to over the years a favor and get this mutant dick turd off the streets, yesterday.
Last but not least, a signal boost for a missing child. This is one of the long-term missing cases, and the last known sighting of Stephanie Crane was in 1993. However, artists at the NCMEC age-progressed her photo to 31 years. If you’ve seen someone matching her photo, or have any information on her whereabouts after October 1993, make that call. Let’s bring Stephanie home to the people who care about her.
