Another week’s gone by, and that means weekend time once again. My weekend plans are to continue with my job search. If I got the job I hoped for this week, I’d be celebrating with a trip to a showing of the Nutcracker. But, that didn’t happen, so job search it is. That, and cooking. I’ve been doing quite a bit of it lately. I had an interview this week that seemed super promising. I got the news today that they went with someone else.
Fine. I wish them well in their business ventures, and I wish their new hire nothing but joy with their new role. I mean that sincerely. I won’t name the company, or what the company’s industry was in, since it doesn’t matter at the end of the day. In any case, you’re not likely to run into them anytime soon, since they’re fairly obscure.
This wasn’t the news I was hoping for. I don’t think this is news anyone wants to hear, for that matter. I have to remind myself, they were only one opportunity out of a million out there anyways. I found their job posting, and their quoted pay rate was low enough that even someone living in an area with the lowest cost of living imaginable couldn’t live on it.
It’s probably for the best they didn’t pick me after all. And it’s also probably for the best another interview I had also didn’t work out either. At the end of the day, it’s their loss.
I don’t envy anyone in charge of hiring people for a second. Readers, you shouldn’t either. There’s seriously nothing to envy about them or their job.
I’ve been looking for work for a YEAR. I’m beyond sick of this. There has to be something out there for me. There just has to be.
‘Nuff about me, though. How ’bout you, readers? What are your weekend plans? Drop ’em like they’re hot, so I can live vicariously through you.
To ring in the weekend, I’ve got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.
This recipe for honey soy cauliflower wings looks like so much fun to make!
I’ve got some plain goat cheese in my fridge right now, and I think this is what I’m gonna do in my next batch of spinach dip.
My mom loved coffee, and we’ve still got some knocking around. I may use it up to make this bacon jam.
bell hooks, born Gloria Jean Watkins, died on Wednesday. I remember reading a lot of her stuff in college. Rest in peace, bell.
This article about minority women in country music is great. Country music has historically been one of the most diverse genres, and it’s sad how so many artists went overshadowed and overlooked because of their ethnicities.
Loving this post about Indigenous craft kits from cultural insiders. I’d totally buy one.
A fun post about reclaimed DIY time capsule.
A great list of things to have in an emergency.
The long arm of the law finally caught up with the flaming dickbag who murdered 13-year-old Minerliz Soriano in 1999. Rest in peace, Minerliz.
A 1974 Pinto Runabout belonging to Kyle Clinkscales was found, with his ID, and human remains in it. Kyle went missing in 1976 at the age of 22. Rest in peace, Kyle.
Many Native communities suffered horribly during the 1918 flu epidemic, and this post talks about the Native Nations living in Alaska, and the devastation the epidemic caused them.
On a positive note, Slur Valley in Colorado’s been renamed. I’m here for it, 100%!
Last but not least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 16-year-old Alexia Davidson was on September 3rd, 2021. If you see a child matching her description, make that call. Let’s get her home in time for Christmas, so she can spend it with the people who love her and care about her.
