Happy Fri-yay, everyone! That means one thing: weekend time’s upon us once again, so it’s time for us to talk weekend plans. Today’s Friday the 13th, too! My plans include a trip to a restaurant I’ve heard a lot about, after I saw the owners do a good deed for someone in a shitty place w/ themselves. There’s been something I’ve been wanting to try there, so I guess that means opportunity’s knocking. I ran out of what I meal-prepped, so we can consider it breakfast for the next day, haha.

I also got plans to go to the farmer’s market, along w/ an event going on in my neighborhood. I’d also love to go over to some stomping grounds I haven’t been to in years, not since before the pandemic.

But anyways, nuff about me. How bout you, readers? What’re your weekend plans? Good, bad, both, neither, I’d still love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started!

To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.

I’ve never been to Costco before, and the closest one to me is two buses out and at least a half-hour walk one way. Someone brought a box of cookies from there to my day job, and I wanted to go there to get my own. Since the word on the street is that they don’t even let you in the door if you’re not a member, I found a dupe of that cookie recipe instead.

How to research the history of your home. I’d love to see what mine looked like 50 years ago or whatever. That’d be cool!

Someone left an empty bag of Cheetos at Carlsbad Caverns, and that’s a huge no-no for the ecosystem. They also have a rule about outside food for this reason.

Last, but never least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 8-year-old Kush Kohole Bernstein and his 11-year old brother Koa Kai Bernstein of Honolulu, HI was on October 12th, 2022. They’ve been missing for 2 years, and the FBI Honolulu field office is also involved. They may be in the company of Abigail Bernstein, their mother.

Even though it’s a sad statistic to talk about, the longer a child remains missing, the lower the odds of them returning home safe become. However, it’s important to remember that this is the overall trend, and there are always outliers. This is why I’m highlighting a long-term missing case, this one being Pamela Mayfield and her brother Michael of Houston, TX. The last confirmed sighting of Pamela and Michael was on January 10th, 1985. At the time of their disappearance, Pamela was 5, and Michael was 6. Both attended Betsy Ross Elementary School, and since Michael repeated a grade, he and Pamela were in the same grade. According to Our Black Girls, Pamela and Michael were walking home from school, something they’ve done before, so it wasn’t out of the ordinary for them. The post about the pair says that witnesses saw them playing at a nearby park together, and were also seen getting into an unfamiliar green car. The NCMEC poster has an age-progressed photo to 39 years old of Pamela, and an age-progressed photo of Michael at 40 to show what they may look like today. This year, Pamela turns 45, and Michael turns 46, based off of the ages listed in the poster.

If anyone out there has any information as to the whereabouts of Koa and Kush after October 2022, or of Pamela and Michael after January 1985, make that call. Let’s see what we can do to get these kids home safe to those who love em, pronto!
