Happy Fri-yay, everyone! This means only one thing: weekend time’s upon us once again, and so it’s time to talk weekend plans! It’s the last weekend of the summer, which is so sad. I want summer to last forever, but it can’t. It’s only for a little while.

At the same time, I’d like the weather to be a bit cooler outside, since it’s been in the 80s and 90s in my neck of the woods for weeks on end.

Besides, cowboy boots in 90 degree weather: not even once. Seriously, idk how the fuck those ppl at the fair could wear those when it was this hot outside for more than 20 seconds. It was all I could do to duke out the walk home from the bus stop at my day job in em.

My weekend plans include an event in town, the farmer’s market in my neighborhood, and possibly a trip to some old stomping grounds. I’m considering a trip to TJ Maxx, but idk. If the weather sucks, then I’ll be going to the mall to get some steps in. I also wanna catch the last baseball games of the season on the radio, since these’ll be away games. There’s also a football game w/ a team I recently started following in honor of someone I knew years back, and I hope to catch that too. Maybe I’ll drop in at a watch party somewhere on my way home.

I finally found my notebook for this blog. I’ve been looking for it for months, and it was somewhere I never thought to look in the first place.

In other news, I’m moving forward in re-losing the weight. I’ve been going back and forth at a certain point, and this is how it played out when I reached this same point before. I guess it’s a mental hurdle I gotta get past, like I saw someone talk about this one time on My 600lb Life (more like My 600lb Existence, cuz really, what kind of life is that?).

Anyways, nuff about me. How bout you, readers? What’re your weekend plans for the last weekend of summer? Good, bad, both, neither, I’d still love to hear all about it just the same, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started!

To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.

I had a chance to try the pumpkin chai at Starbucks when they had a sample of it, and I loved it. I feel like chai really says ‘fall vibes’ on its’ own, but this just reinforces it. Now I gotta find out how to make it on my own. Well, whaddaya know? Here’s a recipe for it!

Had no idea that scalp and full-body gua shas were even a thing, until now. Today years old, today years old!

As a heads-up, this link contains mention of crime, specifically murder, and some of the victims were children. This podcast about the List murders in 1971 is something I’ve been listening to for awhile off and on. I’ve read most of the books about it, but this really fills in the gaps. There’s also pics of their house, too.

I knew the Southern Hemisphere’s seasons differ from ours up here in the Northern Hemisphere, but I didn’t know Australia observed their seasonal changes w/ the meteorological system instead of the astronomical system we use.

On that note, Australia’s springtime started at the beginning of the month. For us, this weekend is the fall equinox, and the harvest moon was yesterday.

This channel dedicated to the Washing Machine Project is great. So many in this world are still washing their clothes and stuff by hand, and the washing machine is something a lot of us take for granted. This initiative is trying to make washing machines accessible to those living in remote areas.

Last, but never least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 15-year-old Jayce L. Redmond of Hampton, VA was on September 19th, 2024. According to the poster, he had on a black and white shirt, black jeans, and green and white sneakers. No other information is listed.

Even though it’s a sad statistic to talk about, the longer a child remains missing, the less likely it is they’ll return home. However, it’s important to remember that this is the general trend, and that there are always outliers. There is always hope. So, I’ll be highlighting a long-term missing child. The last confirmed sighting of Sheketah Brown, her little brothers Barry and Brandon of Port St. Lucie, FL was on July 16th, 1985, and at home. According to The Resource Center for Cold Case Missing Children’s Cases, their dad James claimed he was responsible for their disappearance, claiming to have killed them, but his story changed every time. Authorities searched high and low among every one of James’s claimed dump sites, but nothing turned up that hinted at Sheketah, Barry, Brandon, and their mom Carolyn ever having been there. However, the site mentions that James had struggled w/ mental illness, and had a run-in w/ the law in 2005. Authorities suspect foul play in the kids’ and Carolyn’s disappearances. Included in the NCMEC poster is an age-progressed photo of Sheketah to show what she may look like at 37 years old, Barry at 33 years old, and Brandon at 28 years old. No photo of Carolyn is included in the poster, but it states that she wears glasses, as shown in the photo from the early 1980s of her on Our Black Girls. This year, they turn 49, 45, and 40 respectively, and Carolyn is now 67 years old.

If anyone out there has any knowledge of Jayce’s whereabouts after September 19th, 2024, or the whereabouts of Sheketah Brown, Barry Brown, Brandon Brown, and Carolyn Brown after July 16th, 1985, I encourage you to make that call. Let’s get em all home safe to those who love em, pronto!
