Kevin Since we’re coming up on a holiday weekend, that means a three-day week for a lot of us, yours truly included. We’re also due for some insane cold weather later this week, which I’m totally not looking forward to. If and when possible, I’m gonna stay in, work on this blog and stuff I got for my day job.
I’ll be honest, I haven’t really felt like getting into the holiday spirit this year. It’s been more of an afterthought than it’s been in years past. This time a year ago, I already had the tree up at this point, had a tiny tree in my room with little lights and ornaments that came with it, and ran a candle from Swan Creek Candle Company in Fresh Cut Christmas Tree. I even got a backup of it, too. This year, other than work, I’m gonna watch Home Alone, along with Christmas Comes But Once a Year. Maybe I’ll kill two birds with one stone, do some work while I’m watching these, haha.

These coconut balls may be just the thing to help me get into some semblance of a holiday mood. Outside of my own creation of sugar-free Jello vanilla pudding mixed with Mimi’s Milk Nog, that’s been the extent of my holiday-themed food. Forget putting these in the freezer. I’ll just set them on the porch, since the upcoming cold weather will have these ready in a jiffy.
Speaking of a holiday mood, this song’s been one of my favorites this time of year since I first heard it on the radio back in elementary school. I also love The Tractors’ holiday take on their classic, and of course, you can’t go wrong with this one, or this while we’re at it. I’ve also got my old Now That’s What I Call Christmas, and a Victoria’s Secret holiday album I found at a record shop. What are your favorites? Drop ’em like they’re hot below.
One of the things phone scammers will do is ask for gift cards once they’ve reached that point in their scam. They will even stoop to coaching the potential victim on what to say if a store employee is astute enough to suspect something fishy. Learn their tactics. Knowledge is power. Never answer the phone if you don’t know the number. If they leave a message claiming to be a big-name company, no matter what it is, call the company on a number you know to be associated with them to verify whatever.
This story has a happy ending. As someone who’s been in customer service, I know firsthand how demoralizing and upsetting it is when a customer lashes out at you and mistreats you in return when you’ve done good by them. I know how it is to spend hours on end after the fact searching for what it is about me that made them do it to me. I’ve been down that road before, and it sucks so bad. Maybe you’ve been in a similar situation years back, or maybe it’s more recent. I want you to understand that their outrageous behavior doesn’t say anything about you or how well you did your job. It’s a reflection on them, their character, and whatever they’ve got going on with themselves.
Isn’t Misty Copeland’s closet goals or what?! Seriously, if I ever make enough to afford it, this is the kind of closet I wanna make for myself. BTW, I couldn’t help but notice those blue shoes with the tulle bows. If I ever find those or something close enough in my size (a US 3 in case anyone’s wondering), I’m totally getting ’em.
