We’ve come to the end of another week, and at the same time, we’ve come to the end of another month in the calendar year too! Sheesh, talk about a twofer, right there! I can’t believe it. This month has been so busy, and now that I’ve shifted back into my old routine, I hope to get back to my regularly scheduled programming. The farmers market starts this weekend, and my plan is to hit them up. I’m also hoping to have the chance to swing by one of the vintage shops for something I’m in need of for a craft project that’s nearly impossible to find in the craft stores at this point. I’ve also got day job stuff to get done, the usual in that respect.
Over to you, readers. What are your weekend plans? Drop ’em like they’re hot below, and let’s get the party started.
To ring in the weekend and the start of another month, I’ve got some links below to talk about, share, what have you.
If you’re going through a difficult season, know that it will change in due time. Mine’s mostly due to the unknowns and financial fears, but damn, I hope that changes soon. If you can relate, I hope that whatever difficult season you’re going through, it changes for you soon also.
Great post on ways to invest in yourself. Investment doesn’t always have to involve money, and self-care is definitely an investment in ourselves as far as I’m concerned. [EDIT 12-1-2021: The original link is gone. However, the new link to the original post can be found here.]
In case anyone missed it, we lost DMX earlier this month. Instead of a hearse, he got his final ride in a monster truck, with a thousand motorcycles as part of the motorcade.
In other news, we’ve also lost Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins this week. He was 90 years old.
I’m not in college, and haven’t been in nearly a decade (gosh, has it really been that long?!), but if any of you readers are, this post is what I wish I’d done when I was in college.
I saw this pizza recipe, and I feel like it would work great as a dip, too.
Ways to stop comparing yourself to others. Comparison is the thief of joy for sure. [EDIT 1-6-2022: The original link is gone, and sadly, so is the website. As a favor to you readers, I’ll see what I can come up with for you in a future post.]
What a fun way to put an old looted shop to use, and to give back to the community too!
In the business and tech world, Microsoft has plans to retire the Calibri font as its’ default. I’m not a fan of any of what’s listed, but if I absolutely had to choose, I’d go w/ Grandview.
Love the idea of a take-back bag for clothes you no longer want. Textile recycling isn’t a thing yet where I live, and I wish it was.
Speaking of upcycling, I’m thinking about upgrading a sweatshirt I love to bits into a dress.
May 5th is National MMIW Awareness Day. If you haven’t heard of this, it’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. I’ll have a post forthcoming that explores this tragedy, but the Meskwaki Nation’s hosting a virtual walk/run/bike to raise awareness.
