The Weekend Docket

A decorative image that says "The Mission Within Weekend Docket."

I can’t believe it’s Friday, and the weekend’s upon us again! Seriously, this week’s gone by so quickly. I guess Monday being Memorial Day and a bank holiday had something to do with it. For me, this week’s been absolute chaos, with a parade of people coming in and out for my family member, and throw in my time starting, it’s been a bear. My weekend plans are to hit up the neighborhood farmer’s market, hopefully earlier this time since I missed it last weekend. I’m also hoping I get the chance to go to this one place I’d been wanting to check out for months, since before the move. We’ll play it by ear and let the universe decide if it’s meant to be.

It’s gonna be hot af this weekend, too. If that’s the case in your area, stay safe out there if you’ve got no choice but to be, like yours truly.

How ’bout you, readers? What are your weekend plans? Drop ’em below like they’re hot, and let’s get the party started.

To ring in the weekend, I’ve got some links for us to share, talk about below, what have you.

Everything we like about BLT sandwiches, now in a salad!

A recipe for some homemade taco seasoning. I’ve got a value-size canister of taco seasoning, but I may make this too, and maybe hit up a local shop for some of the hotter chili powders too. Store-bought taco seasoning? Who’s she? Never heard of her…

Another recipe, this one for Nutella cheesecake dip. Best in very small doses, haha.

In remembrance of Michael “Peter” Pagaling and Sgt. John Mercer, along with the rest of our fallen soldiers in Indian Country. Thank you all for your service, and may you rest in peace.

On a similar note, the oldest member of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Nation died at the age of 94 last month. Rest in peace, Ted George.

This week marks the anniversary of the racially-motivated Tulsa murders. This was far from an isolated incident. Add it to the list of things we don’t really learn about in school, which is a huge shame and a disservice to us.

In other news, this article about a kid whose classmates beat them up in the hallway and filmed it is horrifying. No way in hell the teachers didn’t know what was going on. I hope that when this kid graduates, they sue that school district for every dime they can. Chad, I see you, and I give a damn.

Vincent Schilling posted this two years ago while the former president was in office. about Obama honoring him and other veterans from Indian Country in 2016. Thank you for your service. Lt. Schilling.

A case for not spending the summer trying to play catch-up. I think I will be playing catch-up and then some instead, haha.

Ways to stay motivated on a rainy day. I love rainy days, especially when they’re warm.

The eight people you meet on Slack.

Last but not least, a signal boost for a missing 11 year old boy. The authorities haven’t definitively ruled out foul play according to the news reports, and in this article, a friend was the one who reported him missing. If you see a boy matching this description, make that call. Let’s bring Xavior Harrelson home, safe and sound.
