A decorative image that says "The Mission Within Weekend Docket."

It’s Friday, bb, and that means another summer weekend’s right around the corner. The Olympics are in full swing, and I’ve had the Roku on Peacock’s Tokyo Now channel as the background noise all week. As far as the other shows, with the Roku, I can watch those any ol’ time. I would watch the Olympics on network TV, but I can’t seem to get NBC to come in worth a damn here. It came in well at the old house, but maybe there’s just enough differences in the terrain. Anyways, I’ll have to fiddle around with the antenna a bit more, and see what’s going on with it.

We’ve been in a heat wave this week, and this weekend it’s gonna cool off a bit. I’ve got everything done from the day job that I’ve taken on early. I’m hoping I get the chance to make it out to the pool and the sprayground, and the farmers’ market for sure. I’ve also been wanting to pick up something from one of the music shops, and the used record store for awhile, so if the universe wills it, I hope to make it to either one of them.

Over to you, readers. What are your weekend plans? Drop ’em like they’re hot, and let’s get the party started.

To ring in the weekend, I’ve also got some links for us to talk about, share, what have you.

Since the Olympics are going on, Simone Biles stepped out of the competition due to mental health issues she’d been dealing with. I heard about it on the radio at Wally World the other day. The Olympics are a huge deal, but mental health and well being come first, and I totally support Simone’s decision.

This glass noodle soup looks like so much fun to make! To me, this recipe says summer, but I can definitely see it going into my rotation in the cooler months too. This yu choy recipe would totally work as a side dish for it. Seriously, I haven’t had that stuff in forever!

Now I know what I’m doing with the Lucky Charms I’ve got in my pantry: this recipe for muddy buddies. I’ve already made one batch with a busted-up box of Lucky Charms from the clearance bin earlier in the week. I’ve got another package in one of my cereal dispensers ready for the next batch, haha. Separating the marshmallows from the cereal was actually kinda calming while I bounced around ideas for the day job, btw.

Just so we’re all clear, Sean Hannity’s political views are not mine, and I’m in no way endorsing him on this blog. Regardless of your political stance, it’s nice to see him stepping up to do the right thing. Who cares why he had the change of heart? A broken watch is right twice a day, but hopefully this will inspire enough members of his fanbase who are able to get vaccinated to do so if they haven’t already. If this is what it takes for us to put this horrible virus behind us so we can collectively get back to a normal life, then so be it, as far as I’m concerned.

A new ice cream brand’s at Wally World! Right now, it isn’t available at the one closest to me, but I’ll see if I can get a hold of whoever has the say-so in terms of what they carry, and ask if they’ll get some in stock. I’m betting dollars to donuts it’ll sell quickly.

We all know how I feel about smoking, and always have felt about it. This article talks about how the tobacco industry’s appropriating (very valid!) social justice issues and using them as cudgel to throw up roadblocks in the FDA’s plans to ban menthol smokes. JFC, how do these people sleep at night?

The Dating Game killer died. Natural causes according to the article. Whatever it was, hopefully his death will bring some closure to his victims’ families. Good fuckin’ riddance to bad rubbish, imo. On a similar note, this archived article has pictures he took that were in his storage locker. I’m including this as a signal boost. If you recognize anyone in these pictures, make that call.

Another signal boost, this one being for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of Michael Vaughan from Fruitland, ID was on July 27th, 2021. If you see a child matching their description, do the right thing and make that call.
