The Weekend Docket

A decorative image that says "The Mission Within Weekend Docket."

This week’s been short, but a difficult one for me due to family things going on. I’ve been slamming the pedal to the metal with the job hunt, and at this point, I’m done holding my breath on anything ever turning up for me. Assignments have hit a dry spell at the day job, and I’m at the end of my rope. Logically I know there’s an ass for every seat, just like in relationships, but I’ve reached the point where I’ll believe it when I see it, and until I see it, it’s all a load of crap.

That said, I can’t believe we’re coming into another weekend already. My plans this weekend are the farmers’ market, and since it’s gonna be hot tomorrow, the sprayground at the park after that. I’ll also be listening to the home baseball games on the radio like I did last night, and I’m doing right now. And of course, job hunting.

What are your weekend plans? Drop ’em like they’re hot below, and let’s get the party started here.

To ring in the weekend, I’ve got us some links to share, talk about, what have you.

A post about when to turn down a job offer and keep it moving.

This weekend marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11, and this tribute to Welles Crowther is so moving.

Two more victims of 9/11 have been ID’d: Dorothy Morgan and someone else whose identity will stay with their surviving family members.

I found this site the other day, and I fell in love with this story. I wonder what happens next!

Ngl, I’d totally have the school lunches from France and Brazil.

All the stuff you need in order to set up a booth at a craft fair or art festival. If I ever explore that avenue with any sort of dedication beyond a casual approach, I’ll definitely keep this in mind.

I wish I was there. How ’bout you?

Fun ways to keep family memories beyond photo albums galore.

Ways to deal with body image issues, or a way into dealing with them. I can definitely relate to this.

Ways to take your summer look into fall. I’ve got a baja hoodie in my size that I picked up at the fair when it was in town ready for the cool-down after tomorrow.

Speaking of the fair, the Alaska State Fair looks like so much fun. It’s a shame some people have to ruin things with their idiocy and/or ignorance, smh.

I love seeing other countries’ take on our foods, especially the ones not considered ‘the norm,’ or whatever. Fries dipped in milkshakes never appealed to me, but I could definitely be up for meal-prepping something like the eggs/syrup/bacon combo.

While we’re on the subject of gastronomics, this recipe for caramelized chicken sounds like a lot of fun to make.

A guy revisits the subjects of the pics he took in the late 1970s. I love the results, and how some of those people haven’t changed a bit!

Last but not least, a signal boost for a missing child: Lance Melvin of Chicago is 16 years old, and the last known sighting of him was on September 7th, just a few days ago. According to the poster, he may be in need of medical help. If you see someone matching Lance’s description, do the right thing and make that call. Let’s bring Lance home safe to the people who care about him.
