The Weekend Docket

A decorative image that says "The Mission Within Weekend Docket."

Wow, this has been a rotten week, that’s for sure. The only good thing about it is that it ended. Weekend time’s upon us once again, and now that the farmers’ market is over for the season, that means my weekend plans will be different. My mom died suddenly yesterday morning, so I’ll be dealing with some things for awhile, working on my e-book, and continuing to look for another remote job. Something’s gotta turn up for me that’ll pay me something I can live on. Six months of job hunting, with the past 3 slamming the pedal to the metal with no luck, I’m beyond fucking SICK of this!

Over to you, readers. How’s your week been? Got any weekend plans? Drop ’em like they’re hot below, and let’s get the party started. I wanna live vicariously through you.

To ring in the weekend, I’ve managed to hunt down some links for us to talk about, share, what have you.

I had no idea scampi wasn’t just limited to shrimp! This one for chicken scampi looks like one I may have to try at some point.

This recipe seems to lend itself to modifications. Whole wheat flour isn’t part of my diet anymore, but I do have some almond flour knocking around in the pantry. I may have to try that or the other flour I’ve got and report back at some point.

These cookies look like they’d be fun to make with chunky peanut butter. If I had to choose between chunky or creamy peanut butter, I’d go with Team Chunky Peanut Butter. Creamy peanut butter is something I save for the muddy buddies only.

There’s a biopic about Albert Speer now playing in a few theaters, with the truth about him. There were talks about doing one during his lifetime, and Stanley Kubrick wouldn’t touch it with a 10-foot pole.

I wouldn’t live here even if someone paid me a million bucks, haha.

I’m totally adding this book to my shortlist. Now if I can just hunt down a copy to read when I get the chance! [EDIT 12-4-2021: The original link timed out, and is now fixed.]

Great post about the difference between being rich and being wealthy, even though the two terms are often used interchangeably with a ton of overlap between them.

In the world of scams, authorities in Singapore and Malaysia conducted a raid on two job scam syndicates operating in their local areas. Scams are low on general principle, and to me, job scams are a special kind of evil.

I’ve talked about how I feel about the tobacco industry a time or two, and how it sucks donkey balls. My feelings toward it have increased now that my mom’s become a victim of theirs. This article talks about another layer to the devastation the tobacco industry causes, that of racism. If anyone ever needed another reason to quit smoking, here it is.

This article talks about how horses were here in what’s now called the U.S. long before sustained contact.

I’d love to make this beanie sometime to match more of my outfits, haha. And add a veil to it, of course.

If the weather’s still decent, this post talks about what to bring for a picnic. I’d love to do that someday.

Last but not least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 14-year-old Tanaja Wilson was on October 1st, 2021. If you see a child matching her description, make that call. Let’s get her home safe to those who love her, so she can spend the holiday season with them!
