The Weekend Docket

A decorative image that says "The Mission Within Weekend Docket."

Whoa, it’s Friday already? I thought it was still Monday, and somehow I was being punk’d. Anyways, that means another weekend is ahead of us. My weekend plans are more job hunting, getting a head start on a few assignments I was able to take on through my current role, getting some stuff ready to donate to charity, and throw a few things up on eBay for sale.

Universe willing, I’m hoping I’ll get the chance to hit up Wally World for a couple things I’ve been wanting for awhile. If not, then it’ll have to wait until someone decides to hire me and actually pay me something I can live on. That’s what I want for Christmas this year. That’s it.

I’m beyond over this. Any of you readers in the same boat, my heart goes out to you. We’re not gonna let the bastards grind us down, comrades.

Enough about me. How ’bout you, readers? What are your weekend plans? Drop ’em like they’re hot below, and let’s get the party started.

To ring in the weekend, I’ve got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.

This recipe for mushroom soup really says “late fall” to me.

And this recipe for ttukbaegi gyeranjjim, or steamed eggs, looks like a lotta fun to make.

Great stress relievers, and also some ways to pass the time. Hell, that’s all I got right now. [EDIT 1-6-2022: The original post is gone, and sadly, the blog is too. As a favor to you, I’ll see what I can come up with in a future post.]

It’s probably way too cold to think about ice cream for some of you, but if you’ve been around here for a bit, you’ve probably seen me make my own ice cream. The last batch I made was peppermint, and it’s still in the freezer as I write this. I’m taking a breather from it atm even though it’s too warm for any snow and ice right now. But this blog’s all about homemade ice cream with the Ninja Creami, and this recipe for orange creamsicle ice cream looks like a lotta fun to make. Now it’s official. I think I need a Ninja Creami in my life.

Found this little mold for DIY McRibs. My mom would’ve been all over this, since she lived for McRib time. And look, there’s even one in green…just sayin’.

10 Native American inventions that changed the world.

Anyone else here a fan of Home Alone? Then here’s your chance to stay at the McCallisters’. Seriously, someday I’d love to have a house like theirs.

If you’re a student, here are some ways to deal with what goes along with it. I’m sure I’d have had a much better time in college if I did even one of these things, haha.

Fannie Lou Hamer’s America is coming to PBS soon!

In case anyone missed it, a jury convicted Josh Duggar of owning and downloading child abuse imagery, sometimes referred to as “cheese pizza” on YouTube to evade censors. As soon as I heard the news, I cranked up the stereo and rocked out. Bare minimum, he’s looking at 20 years.  That said, my heart goes out to every one of his victims, and the secondary survivors of his reprehensible actions. Hopefully his conviction will be vindication for his victims, and everyone who’s also reaping what he’s sown. As for Josh? Have fun in the slammer, you nasty jerk fuck.

Last but not least, a signal boost for a missing child, this one starting out as an AMBER Alert, and now long-term missing. The last confirmed sighting of Relisha Rudd was in 2014. She is now 16 years old, and the photo shown is age-progressed to 14 years. If you have any knowledge of her whereabouts after 2014, or if you see someone matching her description, make that call. Let’s get Relisha home in time for the rest of the holiday season to those who love her.

  1. I’m glad you liked the post on helping out stressed students! I also wish I had done more of these things when I did my bachelors – but that’s why I write the blog now (I’ve gone back to school so I get another chance to do things differently!).

Good luck in your job search! I hope you are able to find something before Christmas. I know it can be tough out there.

    1. Hey, thanks so much for stopping by! I’ve had plans to go back to school for several years. I thought I wanted to go back and get a degree or certificate in one thing, then another.
That said, thanks for the well wishes for my job search. This is getting so old, and I’m desperate. I hope I find something before Christmas too. It’s a bear out there for sure.
