The Weekend Docket

Oh, bb, it’s Fri-yay! It’s been a seriously long week, and a busy one at that. My weekend plans are to run a couple errands, then lay low. There was a snafu w/ my day job payroll, but we got it sorted. Anyways, I heard about an event on the radio last weekend, and was hoping to make it there since one of my favorite DJs on that station would be there for a meet ‘n’ greet during the lunch hour. Turns out the event was on during the week, which conflicted w/ my schedule. Huge bummer!

A recruiter reached out to me about taking on a short-term project role for a company in town. It’ll be for 2 weeks, starting Tuesday, when I have an event I’m going to at a local school, but I’ll be working the weekends. If it’s possible for me to take on anything beyond that, I’ll see what I can do. I just got rejected for another recruiting job I applied for and stupidly got my hopes up over. Turns out they already hired someone, which tells me they probably had their favorite picked out before they ever got to me. Fine. I’m done w/ recruiting anyways, and I got other stuff in the pipeline.

I hope whoever they chose over me is a million times better than I’ll ever be, and I seriously hope they do that company the justice it deserves.

Other than that, I’m gonna catch some Tales from the Darkside on Comet TV, then the Law and Order SVU marathon, and rest up. May as well catch up on that, since those days’ll be over in the weeks ahead, haha.

Anyways, over to you, readers. What’re your weekend plans? I’d love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hot, and let’s get this party started!

To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.

What happened in Newport News, VA recently isn’t lost on me, even though I haven’t spoken about it. This post about what may have been going on w/ the shooter is horrifying. I’m terrified for my future kids, and scared for myself if this ever hits close to home. That said, I’m holding space for Abigail Zwerner, and I hope she recovers both physically and mentally from this.

Love the idea of Mickey D’s raising their wages to 50 bucks an hour, like in this post. I’d totally apply there depending on the location if that was a thing for any of the locations close by.

Love this post of reviews about reusable travel cups. The Teabloom Explorer made their shortlist, but it looks to be similar enough to the one I have on my list, as I mentioned in my recent post about it. Just remember, you can get 10% off through my coupon code KEVIN10, good toward anything on the Teabloom website.

Speaking of which, I’m so gonna try this blooming tea stuff out sometime.

Love this post about the Loose Ends project. I found an unfinished knitting or crochet project in the basement my mom did, probably before I was born, and I no longer have the motor skills to do it even if I had the patience to do it. I think I’ll send it to them.

Speaking of sustainability, or lack thereof in this case, yet another reason for me to give Shein a miss. I always thought it was like “shine,” btw.

That hamburger looks heinous. Like, barf-o-rama!

3 words: Stop Asian Hate.

Last, but not least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 16-year-old Amilyona Brady of Tampa, FL was on January 19th, 2023. According to the poster, she may still be in town, and she dyed her hair blonde and blue just before she was reported missing. If you see a child matching Amilyona’s description, make that call. Let’s get Amilyona home safe to those who love her!
