Happy Wednesday, everyone. It’s another holiday week, so that means weekend time’s upon us already! Seriously, where’s the time gone? It’s time to talk long weekend plans. My weekend plans include a turkey trot on Thanksgiving, and getting my steps in. Yeah, there’s an actual turkey trot going on, but since there’s no bus service, almost nothing’s open, and it’s too fuckin cold to bike over there, I may as well save the money it costs to participate, do my usual walk and call it even.
There we go, a turkey trot right there. Boom!
Besides, the merch from last year’s was heinous AF. I’ll just go hit up TJ Maxx if I get to where I’m jonesing for a beanie anyways. At least the color’s more likely to match my aesthetic and my coat, haha.
There’s a couple events going on that I’m hoping to be able to make it to. Otherwise, instead of Thanksgiving dinner, it’ll be Thanksgiving meal-prep for me, since it’s just me here.
I’m also watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, just like old times. It’s not the same as seeing it on the ol’ rabbit ears like I did as a kid, but it’s still something, imo. I may even watch old Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parades on YouTube. So far, I’ve watched the ones from 1992, 1993, and 1995.
But anyways, nuff about me. How bout you, readers? Got any holiday weekend plans? Good, bad, both, or neither, I’d still love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started!
To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have ya.
It doesn’t have to be Thanksgiving related, but someone at my summer job brought a pumpkin cake to the holiday potluck when I went in a couple weeks back to get some hours in. It’s still unclear as to what the exact recipe was, but I’m wondering if this may have been it.
Someone on the bus was talking about hamburger casserole
I also came across the viral tomato feta pasta from TikTok, and since I came into ownership of some cherry tomatoes I needed to use up, I decided I’d try it out for myself. I didn’t have feta in the house, but I did have some mac and cheese instead. Let’s just say I’m wondering where tf this has been all my life!
Some ways to reuse and upcycle old makeup.
Everybody and their damn dog’s got deals going on for Black Friday, and the stores are probably gonna be like the Hunger Games. Here’s a great opportunity to beat the crowds, and get started on investing in your future w/ your own website. This is a sponsored link, but Namecheap has some great Black Friday deals going live soon!
If y’all have been here for a few minutes, it’s probably come up a time or two that I love country music. Jelly Roll (not to be confused w/ Jelly Roll Morton, btw!) has lost over 100 pounds as of the date this was posted, and it was high protein. This is how I did it, and how I’m re-losing what I gained back.
Last, but never least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 16-year-old Devin Steen of Indianapolis, IN was on September 29th, 2024. No other info is listed in the poster, beyond an additional photo of him.
Even though it’s a sad statistic to have to talk about, the chances of a child returning home diminish the longer a child is missing. However, it’s important to remember that this is just the general trend, and that there are outliers. There’s always hope. This is why I’m highlighting a long-term missing case, and this time, it’s Ramona Lynn Brown of New Orleans, LA. The last confirmed sighting of Ramona was on March 6th, 1984, after her family’s house burned down. They were a large family, and she had 9 siblings. Johnnie Mae, her mom, and her dad, Aubrey Sr, along w/ her siblings were all looking forward to Mardi Gras, which was right around the corner. According to this post, a fire broke out in their home in the early morning hours, and two of Ramona’s siblings didn’t survive the fire. The authorities found her siblings’ remains in the fire, but they found no trace of Ramona. If Ramona had also died in the fire, there’d have been evidence to prove that, but there wasn’t. This matches up w/ what one of her sisters had talked about, that she was already outta the house when the fire started. The NCMEC’s post goes into further detail, mentioning that Simona remembered seeing a couple in a gold Cadillac “with wings,” which matches up w/ Cadillac’s models at the time. Simona described the woman as being white, and the man being Black, and that they offered to help after the fire.
In the aftermath of Ramona’s disappearance, her grandma Dorothy reported getting weird phone calls, where there’s nothing but silence on the other end of the line. The Resource Center describes a very chilling phone call she got, and the caller on the other end said “Ma!” Dorothy asked who was calling, and the caller said “Al!” Al was Ramona’s nickname by her family, which means there was no reason why anyone else outside the family would know that. Ramona’s mom passed on several years ago, and she believed that her baby is still alive. Her surviving relatives submitted their DNA to genetic genealogy companies, and so far, nothing’s matched up. This year, Ramona turns 44. The NCMEC released an updated age-progressed photo to show what she may look like today.
If anyone has any knowledge as to Devin’s whereabouts after November 9th 2024, or of Ramona’s whereabouts after March 6th, 1984, make that call. Let’s see what we can do to get these two home safe to those who love em before we get too much further into the holiday season, pronto!
