It’s Fri-yay, and that can only mean one thing: weekend time’s upon us once again. My weekend plans are to check out an old park that’s a bit of a trek from my house, and further out than the pool is. I’ve been wanting to check it out since I saw it on a bus ride home from a different part of town. If I end up not making it out there, then it wasn’t meant to be. Other than that, I’m going to the farmer’s market for sure.
It was cold and wet last weekend, but this weekend’s gonna be a different story, so I may as well go take advantage of it while it lasts.
I’m looking over at this busted-up kids’ desk I got from a thrift store on mega-clearance, and I really oughta get it cleaned off sometime this weekend, too.
I also gotta go find a chair that’ll fit it. The ppl at the thrift store I got it from couldn’t sell it to me fast enough and help me get it on my wagon afterward when they found out my actual age, since there was no chance of them getting it back in a few months’ time. I thought about painting it, but it’s not worth it. Besides, I already found the desk I actually want, but can’t afford it yet.
When I get it, I’m gonna use this desk for something else, or move it to the living room instead.
To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.
Well, I was today years old when I heard of carrot gnocchi being a thing. Gonna have to try this and play around w/ it, see how it goes at some point.
How sagamite, a traditional Abenaki soup at a local restaurant called Cafe Masko in Quebec, is healing. I hope they come out w/ a cookbook sometime, cuz I’d love to try it!
This video about fast fashion’s dumping ground in Ghana is a must-see. In addition to giving fast fashion a miss altogether, or buying it rarely if it’s something you seriously want, there’s gotta be something we can do to stop this.
I found a nightstand on some rando’s curb in my neighborhood, and vacuumed out the shyt that was in it after I opened the drawers and left it sitting in my backyard a few nights to air out. It’ll do until I can get the nightstand I actually want. In the meantime, I found this how-to for fabric drawer liners. Now I know what I’m gonna do w/ some of the fabric my mom had!
I used to make pizza before all this happened, and I always ended up using a cookie sheet pan for it. I was today years old when I found out this was basically grandma pizza. I’m gonna have to try out some of these tips next time I get around to making more pizza.
Last but not least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 13-year-old Wendy Perez of Pacoima, CA was on August 1st, 2023. Nothing’s mentioned in the poster beyond this, but if you see a child matching her description, or have any knowledge of Wendy’s whereabouts after August 1st, 2023, make that call.
In other news, Keshaun Williams is still missing. The AMBER Alert issued after his disappearance is still on, making this the longest-running AMBER Alert in Cleveland’s history. The U.S. Marshals are also assisting in the investigation. If you know anything about what happened to Keshaun, or know where he’s at, make that call. Let’s see what we can do to get both Keshaun and Wendy home safe to those who love em, just in time for the holiday season!
