The Weekend Docket

A decorative image that says "The Mission Within Weekend Docket."

Happy Fri-yay, everyone! Guess what that means? It means only one thing: weekend time’s upon us once again, so it’s time to talk weekend plans. My weekend plans are to go to an event in my old neighborhood, and also the farmer’s market. I may also go to an event downtown, but that depends on how I’m feeling, haha. Otherwise, I may take the bus over to the one pool that’s open on weekends, now that the season’s over. Since there’s an away game, I’ll catch that on the radio, too. I love listening to baseball games on the radio for some reason.

I’m also gonna do some more cleaning, and work on the fridge. It’s been a hot minute since I cleaned that, so it’s time.

I started back at my day job, and I’m cautiously optimistic. After the shitstorm that last year ended up being, how can it be anything but cautiously optimistic?

Anyhoo, ’nuff about me. How bout you, readers? What’re your weekend plans? Good, bad, both, neither, I’d still love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started!

To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.

In other news, I saw an ad for LinkedIn on TV, and I seriously thought it was a cereal commercial where a guy in a janky panda costume was hawking CRM Solutions. Ngl, I’d try it if it was a real thing, haha.

I’d love to try these lemon brownies sometime!

I love matar paneer. I used to get that canned stuff, but now it’s nearly impossible to come by locally. Now I can make it any ol time!

I also wanna make this aloo masala sometime.

A post about Merle Haggard’s sons.

I’ve been considering a bidet, and here’s a list of the best of 2024 according to Good Housekeeping. This one’s the one I’ve been looking at, but it’s not a sponsored link. Scout’s honor!

Here’s how to remove sweat stains from clothes. My beloved Barbie jean jacket’s full of em, and it’s embarrassing af. I’ll try this out sometime soon.

Not a sponsored link, but I went and got a pair of boots for fall that I ordered online for in-store pickup, and even though they were a bit shorter than I expected they’d be, I still love em to bits! I also got my eye on these as well. I saw a lady at the store in something similar, but they don’t come in my size, and these are similar enough we can call it even Steven. Having seen the boots that lady had on up close, I’m not surprised in the slightest they don’t come in my size, haha.

I’d love to see this movie sometime, too.

A list of Barack Obama’s favorites of 2023. I’m so gonna check this stuff out!

Turns out Richard Simmon’s death was accidental. Even though his brother Lenny says to celebrate his life, Richard’s passing is still sad all the same to me.

Last, but never least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 16-year-old George Louis Valenzuela of Los Angeles, CA was on May 29th, 2024. The poster states that he has a tattoo on his right forearm and his right hand. He may also go by Louie, a variation of his middle name. No other info is listed in the poster beyond another photo of him.

There is also an active AMBER Alert for 4-year-old Wyman Bryant and 2-year-old Willow Bryant of Los Angeles, CA. The last confirmed sighting of Wyman and Willow was August 14th, 2024. Willow had on a pair of gray shorts and a blue shirt. She is 2 feet tall, weighs 20 pounds, has blonde hair, and blue eyes. Wyman had on a blue shirt, pink shorts, and pink shoes. He is 3’5, weighs 34 pounds, has blonde hair, and brown eyes. There’s also a description of their abductors, and the car their abductors are driving. This is a gold/champagne colored 2008 Buick Enclave w/ paper license plates, likely either temporary tags or car dealer tags.

Even though it’s a sad truth to have to talk about, the statistics say that the longer a child remains missing, the lower the odds of them returning to their loved ones alive become. However, these statistics describe general trends, and as such, there are always outliers. The last confirmed sighting of Jamal Abdul’Faruq of Richmond, VA was April 16th, 1990. Jamal and his big brother Basil were playing together in their neighborhood, and that was the last time they were seen. At the time of his disappearance, he had on jeans, a black Batman t-shirt, white tennies, and a gray and red fleece baseball jacket. Authorities found Basil’s remains in a landfill outside of town, but Jamal is still missing. There are details about the crime scene where Basil was found in this post from CNN, so if that’s not something you’re in the headspace to read about, do give it a miss. It also mentions that there’s a strong possibility that Jamal is still alive. This year, he turns 42. The NCMEC has a photo of him taken around the time of his disappearance, and an age-progressed photo to 38 years old.

If anyone out there has any knowledge of Louie’s whereabouts after May 29th 2024, Willow and Wyman’s whereabouts after August 14th 2024, Jamal’s whereabouts after April 16th 1990, or any knowledge of what happened to Jamal’s brother Basil, I encourage you to make that call. Let’s see what we can do to get Jamal, Willow, Wyman, and Louie home safe to those who love em, and let’s get Basil some long overdue justice by holding his killer(s) responsible to the fullest extent of the law.
