Happy Fri-yay, everyone! It’s hard to believe another week’s come and gone, but here we are. That means one thing: weekend time’s upon us again, and it’s time to talk weekend plans. Or should I say, long weekend plans? Beyond the farmer’s market, I’ll be back at my summer job this Labor Day weekend. I also hope to make it to another baseball game, and the one pool in town that’s open on weekends until Labor Day, if it becomes the right time of the month by then, so to speak. If not, then I’ll find something else to do instead.
I may also go over to some old stomping grounds, too. Otherwise, I’m gonna do some more cleaning, and get working on this thing I’ve been wanting to get done and set up forever.
But ’nuff about me. How bout you, readers? What’re your long weekend plans? Good, bad, both, neither, it’s cool w/ me. I’d still love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started!
To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.
I wanna make this chana masala sometime. It’ll be a great way to make the dried chickpeas I soaked and are now living in the fridge.
Love this list of ways to use rose water. I used it in my iron for a dress the other day.
Also, here’s a how-to for making your own rose water. I got mine from a Middle Eastern market in my neighborhood, but this is good to know too!
Speaking of irons, remember Sewing w/ Nancy? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Anyways, the team over at the official website made a list of myths about water in irons.
I’m on the hunt for a new fondue pot, since my old one sucks. There’s just no way around it, and it’s now being used as a planter. This list of the best of 2024 gave me some ideas. Just none that involve that nasty Sterno. Seriously, that stuff smells like ass on top of ass.
I’d love to get my hands on a copy of this cookbook. In fact, I wanna read em all!
Last, but never least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 13-year-old Willian Desouza Castilho of Fitchburg, MA was on June 4th, 2024. No other information is listed in the poster.
Even though it’s a sad statistic to think about, the longer a child remains missing, the less likely it is they’ll return home safe. However, it’s important to remember that this is the general trend, and there are always outliers. This is why I’m highlighting a long-term missing case, and today’s is Tonetta Yvette Carlisle of Chattanooga, TN. The last confirmed sighting of her was March 15th, 1989. She was 15 at the time of her disappearance, and she was coming home from school. Tonetta’s page on Our Black Girls states that a van approached her, and several ppl came out of it and grabbed her. There were witnesses, and one even managed to get the license plate before they called the cops. However, the suspect died by suicide days after her disappearance. There’s been rumors about where Tonetta may be today, but nobody’s confirmed these either way. This year, Tonetta turns 50, and the NCMEC has an age-progressed photo to show what she may look like today.
If anyone out there has any knowledge of Willian’s whereabouts after June 4th 2024, or Tonetta’s whereabouts after March 15th, 1989, I encourage you to make that call. Let’s see what we can do to get Willian and Tonetta home safe to those who love em, pronto!
