The Weekend Docket

A decorative image that says "The Mission Within Weekend Docket."

Happy Fri-yay, everyone! This means only one thing: weekend time’s upon us once again, and therefore it’s time to talk weekend plans. My weekend plans will depend on the weather. If the weather’s decent after all, I’ll be going to the pool. Otherwise, I’ll probably go to some old stomping grounds I haven’t been to since college, and also maybe hit up the store to take advantage of some sales going on.

It’s been a hell of a week, and not in a good way. I’ll just say I reached out to someone I was familiar w/, after something happened, and in return, they made me sorry I ever bothered w/ them in the first place. I won’t be recommending them going forward, that’s for damn sure. However, I oughta mention that the third party who was dragged into this by virtue of name-dropping took it very seriously, as did the other third party where this happened at. So did the hotline I reached out to, so mad props to them all the way.

But anyways, nuff about me. How bout you, readers? What’re your weekend plans? Good, bad, both, neither, it’s cool w/ me. I’d still love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started up in here.

To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.

Came across this recipe for the broccoli salad at Sam’s Club. I love broccoli in the air fryer, so I wonder how well it would work if I air-fried the broccoli for a few minutes beforehand?

We lost Bob Newhart this week. I vaguely remember seeing him on TV as a kid a time or two, and I remember hearing about him from time to time as I came of age.

I’m so happy to hear lottery scammers are being held accountable.

It was Amazon Prime Day recently, and I haven’t bought anything off Amazon in years. I have no plans to ever change that, but here are some alternatives to Amazon when it comes to buying books. Yeah, the thing they used to be known for.

How to buy secondhand furniture. Mine’s all at least 50 years old at this point, w/ maybe 2 exceptions. I do have plans to get at least a couple new pieces in the near future, though. I’m still exploring options.

One of those options is this blanket chest. I’ve been wanting this for years. Not a sponsored link, btw.

A recycling resource for you readers across the pond in the UK. I love this site, and I hope to see something like it available here in the US sometime.

Show of hands, who here remembers Limited Too? Pepperidge Farm remembers, and it’s baaaaack! Anyways, I never had it as a kid, since it wasn’t something my mom was willing to spend money on, and since I was quite overweight as a kid, it wasn’t an option for me. What I got now is thrifted, and I love it to bits. Anyways, I got my eye on several pieces in the new collection.

Ways to test the aging process. Not sure if there’s any merit to it, but I think I’ll try this stuff for funsies to see what happens.

Note: this is a sponsored link. Namecheap is having a huge summer sale going on, where you can get up to 98% off web essentials to start your own website, and snap up that domain name before everyone else does!

In other news, twins Loris Pryor and Doris Ward just turned 100. Happy belated birthday, Loris and Doris!

Last, but never least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 16-year-old Isabella Cedarface of Rapid City, SD was on July 11th. No other info is listed in the poster beyond this.

Even though it’s sad to think about, the statistics say that the longer a child remains missing, the lower the chances of them returning home safe become. However, there’s always hope, and there’s always outliers. The last confirmed sighting of Emmanuel Kalief Birts was on September 14th, 1989. He turns 35 this year. In the poster is the only one his family had of him, likely taken when he was a newborn. Alongside this is an age-progressed photo to show what he may look like today. The Charley Project has more details on the circumstances of his disappearance, stating that someone calling themselves “Debra Manning,” and pretending to be a social worker took him. Whoever “Debra” was, she apparently had access to his medical info, so my guess is that she either worked in the hospital at the time of his disappearance, or worked in a hospital (may not have been the hospital Emmanuel was born in) at some point in time. Otherwise, why else would she have worn a doctor’s coat and scrubs?

If anyone out there has any info as to Isabella’s whereabouts after July 11th, or Emmanuel’s whereabouts after September 14th, 1989, make that call. Let’s see what we can do to get both Isabella and Emmanuel home safe to those who love em, pronto.
