The Holiday Weekend Docket

A decorative image that says "The Mission Within Weekend Docket."

It’s hard to believe another holiday season’s wrapping up, but here we are. It’s the last Friday of 2024. It means weekend time’s upon us once again, so it’s time to talk weekend plans. I’m moving forward recovering from my wisdom tooth extraction, but I think I’m starting to feel better. My weekend plans are to go hit up some old stomping grounds, and mull over a few options before I buy some stuff I’ve wanted for awhile. I considered going to a shop my mom used to love, but after one of the (male) store clerks there came off like a total creep to me, I haven’t been back since. Not worth it. I’ll just order online instead, and I may as well just work on what I already got from there anyways.

Otherwise, I’m so glad this wisdom tooth is gone. That’s 3 down, and 1 to go. That’ll be gone in a couple weeks, and it can’t come soon enough. Yeah, I’m old as shyt to be getting my wisdom teeth pulled, but I figure it’s better late than never. The dentist put a stitch in my gums, and on Christmas day, the stitch actually came out on me.

Anyways, ’nuff about me. How bout you, readers? What’re your plans for the last weekend of 2024? Good, bad, both, neither, I’d still love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started!

To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have ya.

I saw the Gordon Ramsay cooking show for the zillionth time on the Home for the Holidays channel, and every time, I somehow missed this chicken recipe. The stuffing calls for chickpeas, which’ll be a great way to use up the chickpeas living in my pantry.

The dollhouse monument to a child who died of diphtheria in 1933. Nadine’s dad was working on a life-size dollhouse in the months before she died, and he put the construction project on hold since the noise bothered her in her last days on earth.

A list of some Winter Solstice celebrations. I still like the idea of the Snow Angels, tbh.

Last, but never least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 9-year-old Zade Ringgold of Baltimore, MD was on December 23rd, 2024. No other info is listed in the poster.

Even though it’s a sad statistic to talk about, the longer a child is missing, the less likely it is they return home safe. However, it’s important to remember that these are just the general trends, and that there are always outliers. There’s always hope. This is why I’m highlighting a long-term missing case, and this time, let’s talk about Franklin Joseph Little Bear of Mobridge, SD. Some agencies spell his middle name as “Joeseph,” but what’s in the link to the NCMEC poster for him is the common spelling. The last confirmed sighting of Franklin was on August 1st, 1980, where he was boarding a bus w/ a woman, bound for Minnesota according to this website. However, the NCMEC poster says he was going to Chicago, but wherever he was going, it’s unclear as to why he was going there in the first place. The next time any of Franklin’s family heard from him was in 1984, and after that, they never saw or heard from him again. Something doesn’t seem right about this, that’s for sure. Franklin is enrolled w/ the Standing Rock Sioux Nation, and he was 18 when he boarded that bus in 1980. This year, he turns 62 years old. The photo in the NCMEC listing shows him at the age of 7, since there weren’t any more recent photos of him available to the public. There is an age-progressed photo of him to show what he may look like at the age of 61.

If anyone out there has any knowledge as to the whereabouts of Zade after December 23rd, 2024, or of Franklin after August 1st, 1980, make that call. Let’s see what we can do to make this a great New Year for their families, and get these two home safe to those who love em, pronto!
