I biked home from the convenience store to pick up some weekend pop, after I got done at my day job. My safe route was no longer an option, so I had to duke out a different route, one I vowed never to take again after a last straw incident a couple months ago.
This time, it wasn’t so bad, so there’s that. Maybe I’ll try that route again, and see how long my luck holds out.
If nothing else, I’ll just take the bus home and be done w/ it, even though it makes more sense and saves more time if I walked instead.
It’s getting colder outside, and it’s finally cooled off enough in my neck of the woods to justify some warm tea, beyond the confines of an air-conditioned office building, that is.
Enter this little canister of Teabloom White Ginger Pear. I was looking forward to my chance to dig in, even though things got busy for me these past few days.

The smell reminds me of this ginger tea I used to make back when I was in college. I saw the recipe in a cookbook I had at the time. It may have been either Alicia Silverstone’s or Moby’s, one of the two. I’ve since passed those cookbooks on, so I’ll have to hunt for a copy at the library and double-check.
Either way, that ginger tea recipe was fire, literally and figuratively. I remember the recipe saying that it helps when you’ve got a chest cold, and I had those often. I do love spicy foods, and ginger in copious quantities like what that recipe called for was indeed spicy.
But back to our White Ginger Pear tea here. Once it was ready to drink, I took it off the tealight warmer, and poured some into one of my mom’s old mugs. Sure, it isn’t the aesthetic style that lots of ppl over on TikTok are into these days, but that’s fine by me.
I tried some of it, and I gotta say, it’s all love! It even tastes like what I made in college, w/ the exception of the sweet hints of pear in it. Back then, I tried some cheap maple syrup for the sweetener, but usually I went for either brown or white sugar, whichever I happened to have.
I haven’t yet tried a sweetener in it, but I feel like the White Ginger Pear really doesn’t need a sweetener. I wanted to try it on its’ own, and let the flavors speak for themselves first. For the sake of science, I may try using the sugar-free vanilla syrup I picked up at a discount store while I was waiting to start my shift at my second job a few weeks back.
Otherwise, this stuff is definitely something I’ll be bringing to both jobs in the time ahead. Winter’s coming, and the soups I started bringing along are perfect for this time of year. I may have to get me a larger container to bring my hot tea along so I don’t run out, or run the risk of breaking it on a walk or bike ride at the butt crack of daybreak.
I think I know where I’ll be going this weekend at some point. I love my Stanley thermos for my soups, since my old one isn’t quite big enough for those.
Right now, I’m listening to some old commercials on YouTube, recorded off a local channel about 25 years ago. JFC, has it really been that long?! Anyways, the weather report didn’t look promising for this evening, so some nice warm ginger tea is perfect for an evening at home w/ some YouTube, or some Home for the Holidays channel on Pluto TV that comes out to play once a year.

I got my meal-prepped spinach dip for breakfast tomorrow morning ready to roll, the soup I plan on bringing to my day job in the fridge, and my Stanley thermos w/ some piping hot water inside it to warm it up overnight.
The outfit I have planned out in my head doesn’t smell like ass, and there’s no food stains I overlooked, so it’ll be a go for tomorrow.
Over to you, readers. Are you on the hunt for a warming tea that isn’t inherently holiday or seasonal? Have you tried ginger tea before? Have you tried the White Ginger Pear tea before, too? Yes, no, maybe so? Don’t forget, you can use code KEVIN10 for a discount on your order from the peeps at Teabloom, whether it’s a canister of this great stuff, or for something else there you’ve been wanting for awhile. I’d still love to hear your thoughts and takeaways, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s talk!
