The Weekend Docket

Happy Fri-yay and Happy New Month, everyone! It’s Fri-yay, and that means weekend time’s upon us once again, so it’s time to talk weekend plans. Since the weather in my neck of the woods is gonna warm up from what it’s been these past couple days, I plan on taking advantage of it. Right now, I need to go pick up a new pair of snow boots, since mine have a hole in em. It’s in a place I can’t krazy glue back together, so that’s a sign it’s time for a new pair.

There’s another place I’d like to check out while I’m in the area, but I’m not sure if I’ll end up going. Otherwise, I’m planning on going to an event downtown this weekend.

In other news, I’m now officially moving forward w/ some things outside the blog. But don’t worry. They don’t affect anyone but me, but I promise it’s a good thing.

Anyways, nuff about me. How bout you, readers? What’re your weekend plans? Good, bad, both, neither, I’d still love to hear about it. Drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started!

To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have ya.

Someone at my summer job brought in a pumpkin cake, but idk where they got the recipe from. I’m wondering if this could be it.

I’d also like to try some of these recipes for the two holiday-themed treat buckets I’ve got knocking around the house, if for no other reason than to put em to good use.

A post from the Library of Congress about Black film history.

Remember the movie The Devil Wears Prada? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Anyways, supermodel Gisele Bundchen had a small part in the movie, and as of October 2024, she’s expecting a baby!

A podcast episode about whether or not it’s possible to protect ourselves from microplastics.

A great post about pics from the lives of those who identify among the LGBTQ+ community.

Last, but never least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 17-year-old Anna Wray of Sumter, SC was on December 2nd, 2024. No other info is listed.

Even though it’s a sad statistic to talk about, the odds of a child returning home safe diminish the longer they’re gone. However, it’s important to remember that these are just the general trends, and that there are always outliers. There’s always hope. This is why I’m highlighting a long-term missing case. This time, we’re going back in time to 1958, with the story of Donnis “Pinky” Marie Redman. She was from San Pedro, CA, and was 14 at the time of her disappearance. The last confirmed sighting of her was March 1st, 1958. According to the Doe Network, she had on a pair of brown capris and a yellow sweater, which was the trend back then. Donnis went by Pinky, and Pinky was traveling w/ her boyfriend Michael “Mike” Griffin, who was 18 at the time. They were traveling in Mike’s car, a 1950-1951 Dodge Clipper w/ twin exhaust pipes. Authorities found the car abandoned in Williams, AZ. No other info beyond mention of DNA profiles being available for both Pinky and Mike. Pinky’s NCMEC profile includes an age-progressed photo to show what she may look like at 68 years old. This year, Pinky turned 81 years old. Mike turns 84, maybe 85 if he was born in late 1939 according to the Doe Network listing for him. Someone out there knows something about what happened to Pinky and Mike.

If anyone out there knows anything about Anna’s whereabouts after December 2nd, 2024, or of Pinky and Mike’s whereabouts after March 1st, 1958, make that call. Let’s see what we can do to get em home safe to those who love em before the holiday season ends, pronto!
