Hey, you. Yes, you. I see you reading, scouring Google and everywhere else you can think of in the middle of the night or at the butt crack of dawn, searching for answers, hope, or validation with this whole weight loss thing. Maybe you’ve moved on to living your life after weight loss. Maybe you’re almost where you’d like to be, maybe you’re in the middle, or maybe you just started. Maybe you’d like to know what life is like after weight loss. Wherever you’re at, you’re probably learning the hard way that there isn’t much talk about the process, or the afterward.
The media would like us to think that when we lose the weight, it’s all teh biggest party game evar, and all our problems are over. Just look at those commercials hawking the lame diet pills, and the way they hype everything up. Some people in our lives may even think the same way, and wonder why we’re not living up to their preconceived ideas when it comes to this kind of thing. Especially if they’ve never done this before, or never needed to do this before.
Lucky them. Fantastic for them, even. I mean that.
So you’ve found a menu plan that works for you, you’ve found activity you like and can see yourself doing for the long haul.
Where do we go from here?
We can’t go back. We know (or at least I know) where that got us in the past. There’s nowhere to go back to, nowhere beneficial, anyways.
We can’t stay where we’re at. Sure, it’s nice for awhile, but there comes a point where it just won’t work in the long run. After all, growth seldom happens within fixed environments. It may be the easiest option, but who said anything worthwhile was easy?
That leaves us only one option:
Forward. Onward. Upward.
The genesis of this blog started in 2017, when I started on the first phase of my own mission to lose weight, this time around, once and for all. The genesis of a blog, at least something outside the old-school journal sites, was in 2010. Ideas came and went, drafts for posts never saw the light of day (nor will they ever), and the plan went on a shelf to revisit on a rainy day.
This is what life is like for me after losing the weight, now that I’m on the other side. I honestly never wanted to do this. My original plan was to write it all out in one of the dozens of unused notebooks I’ve got living in my room, and keep it that way. But maybe now this is the universe telling me it’s time, and I guess it is. We’ll learn together, for sure, and we’ll (hopefully) have some fun along the way.
