Where has this week gone? I know it was a short one on account of the bank holiday, but that means one thing: weekend time. For me, the only good thing about this rotten week is that it ended. Two failed job interviews, with one who knew they weren’t hiring me from the start and didn’t even bother lying about it. The other one put on a way better act, I’ll give ’em credit for that much. Either way, now I know. I gave them my best, I got this in return. That’s on them, and the door locks from the inside.
These were just two out of a zillion other opportunities out there. I wish these companies, and whoever they chose over me, the best of luck going forward. I mean it sincerely.
My weekend plans are to continue serving my job search life sentence, and to throw a few more things up on eBay. I’ve been able to pick up a few more assignments from my current role, so my game plan is to work on those, and then go to the library to do the formatting since my late mom’s computer doesn’t have Word. I’ve also found a couple movies on Tubi that I’m deciding on reviewing for this blog. I’ll watch ’em both, and decide from there.
Over to you, readers. What are your weekend plans? I hope they’re a thousand times better than mine. If not, then my heart goes out to you. We’re in this together. We’ll get through this. Either way, drop your plans in the comments like they’re hot below, and let’s get this party started.
To ring in the weekend, I’ve found us some links to talk about, share, what have you.
Does anyone remember how Green Giant had those Create-a-Meal kits in the frozen foods section? The Teriyaki was my favorite as a kid, but they also had this Mushroom and Wine Saute I liked as well. From what I understand, that variety lasted on the store shelves for like a nanosecond. I can only guess as to what was actually in it, since I haven’t been able to find anything beyond this 1997 article mentioning it. However, I found this recipe that I think could fit the bill in terms of re-creating it. Since the article mentioned a sweetness to it, and I vaguely remember that being the case when I had it, so maybe it was closer to this recipe instead? Either way, I’d love to try either one of these out.
National Popcorn Day was this week, and I had some plans for it. Unfortunately, those didn’t pan out, since I forgot the bag of popcorn I had ended up getting ruined in the move. I finally picked up some new popcorn, and I think I’ll be making some of this Cajun-style popcorn.
Anyone here seen Hannibal Rising? The guy who played young Hannibal, Gaspard Ulliel, died in a freak accident. Just goes to show how short life really is, and tomorrow isn’t a promise. Rest in peace, Gaspard.
An article about Bob Saget’s death, stating that the autopsy ruled out foul play and drug use as contributors and the cause. I haven’t seen anything that indicated any history of drug or substance abuse with him. I did see mention of a possible cause in the current issue of Us Weekly. However, I won’t be mentioning what it was, since it’s strictly speculation at this point, and Us Weekly isn’t exactly a bastion of credibility. I’ll be waiting for the official word from the ME’s office instead.
Greyhound’s offering free rides home for runaways 12-21 years old. If you’re reading this, and this is you, I want you to do me a solid. As a grown woman, I’m telling you, take Greyhound up on this, and go home. If home isn’t an option for whatever reason, then do the next best thing and go to a safe relative’s house instead. It’s dangerous af out there.
The numbers are going up for the Omicron variant, and the FTC has stepped in to put a stop to sleazy jack-off companies selling snake oil and preying on the fears of vulnerable people. Good.
A great article by someone who met Dr. King.
An interesting piece about life in the oil and gas industry, specifically on the oil rigs.
If you’ve been on my Instagram, you’ll see many pics of my meal-prepping. I gotta admit, I’ve thought about starting up a meal-prepping service. If any of you readers have thought the same, this article talks about how to start up your own meal-prepping service.
Last, but not least, a signal boost for a missing child. Authorities have issued an AMBER Alert for 14-year-old Hillary Salcedo of Buda, TX. According to the poster, the last confirmed sighting of her was January 15th, 2022, and she is in immediate danger. Authorities also state that the person of interest in connection with Hillary’s disappearance was last seen in Austin, TX. If you see a child matching Hillary’s description, or know anything about her whereabouts after January 15th, make that call.
Sorry to hear about your week, Kevin! As an HR Manager, I can’t understand why someone in the profession would waste your time interviewing you when they already knew they didn’t want to hire you! That’s just stupid!
I hope you have a better weekend! I’m hoping for one that’s both productive and relaxing!
Hey, no worries at all! More importantly, thanks for stopping by. I have no idea why they would go to all that trouble when they knew they wouldn’t hire me on a bet just from one look at me, since the interview lasted maybe 10 minutes before they cut the video chat. Then again, who knows why some of the companies I interviewed with did even half of the crap they did to me. All I’m out was time in the scheme of things, but either way, I tried, and that’s what matters to me at the end of the day.
That said, I hope your weekend’s a good one!
