A decorative image that says "The Mission Within Weekend Docket."

Oh bb, it’s Fri-yay, everyone! That means weekend time’s upon us once again. Today was a difficult day for obvious reasons, but in any case, the only good thing about today is that it’s ancient fuckin history. My weekend plans are to continue serving out my life sentence of a job search, host a Social Saturday networking event on LinkedIn, and continue wishing certain things I can’t spell out cuz I can’t afford to jinx any of it and make the Job Gods hate my guts more than they already do. Now that there’s nothing to do in the neighborhood anymore since last weekend was the last day of the farmer’s market, it’s one less thing to go to only to wish I could participate in it.

What are your weekend plans? I’d love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hot below, and let’s get the party started.

To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.

I’d love to try this Great Northern bean dip recipe, since I made the whole bag I got from the neighborhood pantry.

I had a bag of potatoes, and a jar of alfredo sauce that had lived in the pantry long enough. On a whim, I decided to try some scalloped potatoes, and it turned out better than I expected it would. Had no idea it was even a thing.

Trigger warning, this link talks about school shootings, and in theory, we’ve collectively known how to prevent these from happening for a long time. In practice, it’s a different story.

It’s so dishonest how some companies post job ads, only for it to be an attempt at resume farming. I can confirm this is a thing, and in one instance, I believe none of their jobs are real. Proactively getting a pipeline built and farming for resumes, cool w/ me, but Jesus Hopalong Christ and his brother Lloyd, just be honest about it!

River plastic is a thing, sad to say.

New Zealand recently passed a bill to do away w/ buzzwords and business-ese and start putting things in layman’s terms for accessibility.

Stripe recently went through a round of layoffs, and the leadership’s response to it is one I wish was the norm, but it’s not. Either way, I applied for a job at Stripe, and they ignored me. After this, I’d say it was probably for the best.

We recently lost Angela Lansbury, aka Mrs. Potts and Jessica Fletcher. This post originally published in the hard-copy format in 2007, talks about her Irish farmhouse, which is pretty cool, tbh.

Shock of shocks, scammers are looking to capitalize on the student loan forgiveness that’s in progress. Here’s how to tell what’s real and what’s a bullshit scam artist looking to take the easy way out.

This is fuckin horrifying. Why and how is this company even still in business? Make it make sense already!

So over cable and satellite TV? Join the club! This post talks about ways to decide on what streaming services match what you’re looking for.

Last but not least, a signal boost for some missing kids. There’s an active AMBER Alert in for 14-year-old Lauren Gutierrez of College Station, TX. The last confirmed sighting of her was on October 27th, 2022. According to the poster, authorities have reason to believe that she’s in the company of someone more than 3 years older than her, and she is in immediate danger. If you know anything about her whereabouts after October 27th, 2022, or if you see a child matching her description, make that call.

The last confirmed sighting of 15-year-old Tabryah Ingram, of Springfield, MA, was on August 20th, 2022. The poster states that she’s likely still in town, so if you see a child matching her description, or know anything about her whereabouts after August 20th, make that call. Let’s see what we can do to get Tabryah and Lauren home safe to those who love em before the holidays, eh?
