It’s Fri-yay, everyone! We all know what that means: weekend time’s upon us once again, and so it’s time to talk weekend plans. My weekend plans will go one of 2 ways, depending on the weather. The weather reports aren’t looking good for my neck of the woods, so I’ll probably end up doing some mall walking. Otherwise, I’m thinking about biking over to a park I last went to about a year ago. Money’s tight atm, since I’ll be paying off the last credit card I had to take out in order to survive 2 years ago.
I’ll never forgive those who put me in that predicament. Ever. If it’s that important, then whatever higher power they believe in, or the universe if they don’t believe in a higher power, can do the honors for me.
I had Election Day 2024 off from my day job, and since I voted early, I had no use for it. So I spent the day at my summer job. I got plans to take on more hours there, even after I bounce back.
I had high hopes for the election, but it didn’t turn out the way I’d hoped for. 4 more years of that mutant cheese turd w/ a history as a consent violator. I spent the better part of the past few days feeling nothing but hardcore anger and rage. It’s taking everything I got to keep it to myself, and push through the day. I’m scared for what the future holds w/ the upcoming presidential administration, and scared of how it’ll play out for so many.
For those out there whose lives are at stake due to the upcoming administration, I see you, and y’all matter to me. I give a damn.
I’m on a quest to find out how and why this happened in the first place, but I won’t be writing about it here, since this is neither the time or the place.
Anyways, nuff about me. How bout you, readers? What’re your weekend plans? Good, bad, both, neither, I’d still love to hear all about it, so drop it all like it’s hawt, and let’s get this party started!
To ring in the weekend, I got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.
The mention of peanut pie came up at my day job yesterday, and I’d never heard of it. I knew it had to be a thing somewhere, and lo and behold: it is! I wanna try this recipe for it out sometime.
Also came across a recipe for pumpkin mousse I’d love to make and meal-prep for a week of breakfasts.
The oldest blogger was 110 years old, and I’m so sad that I didn’t hear about him before he passed on. His blog lives on, though. Job well done, Morrie. Go rest high on that mountain.
Did anyone here have AOL in the 90s? ‘Member that voice that said “you’ve got mail?” Pepperidge Farm remembers. Anyways, I’m sad to say we lost the guy behind that voice, and just as sad to hear he got a measly 200 bucks for his contribution to what would become AOL. Job well done, so rest in peace, Elwood.
How to go thrifting in the style of an interior designer. This is pretty much my standard practice whenever I get the chance to make it to the thrift stores, haha.
My mom had some old suitcases, and they’re in the closet. I’ve been looking for a way to put those to use, and now I have, according to this post!
Last, but not least, a signal boost for a missing child. The last confirmed sighting of 13-year-old Ylijah Inique Wells of Newport News, VA was on November 7th, 2024. No other information is listed in the poster.
Even though it’s a sad statistic to have to talk about, the odds of a missing child returning home safe diminish as time goes on. However, it’s important to remember that this is the general trend, and that there are always outliers. There’s always hope. This is why I’m highlighting a long-term missing case. This time, I’m talking about Jeffrey Lynn Smith of Hot Springs, AR. She went by her middle name, Lynn, and the last confirmed sighting of Lynn was on December 4th, 1985. She had on a pair of pink pants, tan shoes, and a brown jacket. She has pierced ears, and also a mole on the right side of her chin. According to this post, Lynn was walking home from school w/ her friend and her boyfriend, which was nothing out of the ordinary for her. The post goes on to mention that she and her boyfriend said their goodbyes and see ya laters, and that she never made it home. The authorities wrote it all off as a case of a runaway, and left it at that. However, her mom knew something wasn’t right almost immediately, and that this was out of character for her. Lynn turned 16 in October 1985, and one of her gifts was an opal ring. She loved that ring to bits, and she wore it every day. Since authorities wrote her off as a runaway, her family stepped up and did their own investigation. The video in the post also mentions that the authorities didn’t do much of an investigation, and that Lynn’s family basically played detective in order to get anywhere in terms of finding out what happened to her. The last update in the case was in 2010, where authorities stated that they had a suspect, but didn’t mention any names. It’s been 14 years since there’s been any publicly available updates, and that’s too damn long. This post by Lynn’s sister Lisa on the NCMEC website talks about how the holiday season became a nightmare in the days, weeks, months, and years that followed since Lynn’s disappearance. In honor of Lynn, Lisa and her family came up w/ the idea to hand out Lynn bags to those going through homelessness, and when the recipients get the bags, their eyes light up w/ joy the same way they remember Lynn’s would.
If anyone out there has any knowledge of Ylijah’s whereabouts after November 7th 2024, or of Lynn’s whereabouts after December 4th, 1985, make that call. Let’s get these two home safe to those who love em before the holidays so they can spend the season w/ their families, ASAP!
