Hey there, readers! Normally I don’t post on the weekends or holidays, but since it’s that time of year again, I wanted to swing by and wish everyone Happy Holidays 2021. My hope for you readers, and everyone who finds this, is that you’re having the best holiday seasons of your lives. I want you to have those holiday dinners, parties, and vacations. I don’t want your holiday season to be anything like the hell I’m living now.
This brings me to another important message I’d like to share with you. Many people in this world, especially on social media, are having the happiest holiday seasons, and I’m beyond stoked for them. I mean that sincerely.
I found myself scrolling through Instagram last night, wishing I could be a part of all of that, and knowing that’ll never be for me. I’ve made peace with that.
This time of year can bring up some incredibly difficult feelings, running the gamut from holiday stress, to worse: suicide during the holidays.
If the latter sounds like it’s holding true for you, I’m sorry beyond words for whatever happened that brought you to this point. I want you to know that you aren’t alone. It may never get better for me, or maybe it will, who knows at this juncture? It’s hard to say. But I want it to get better for you. That’s what I care about.
If you’re feeling like suicide is the only way out of whatever torment you’re living in, and it’s feeling like more and more of a very real possibility for you, I want you to do me a solid, right now.
As a favor to me, I want you to reach out to the people at the Lifeline. If you feel like you can’t speak your feelings, you can write them in the chat option. I wish the chat option was easier to find from the homepage, but here it is. It’s ready to roll for you readers in crisis during the holiday season.
I can personally vouch for them, and give them my seal of approval.
If you feel like you’re in immediate danger of harming yourself, take that phone beside you or wherever, right this instant, and dial 911 or your area’s equivalent. Don’t pass Go, don’t collect a hundred bucks. Make that call, now. This blog will still be here when you get back. Scout’s honor.
You matter to me. I give a damn. Let’s you and me get through this together. Deal?
