What’s good, everyone? Ho-lee shee-it, it’s Friday already. This means weekend time’s upon us once again, and it also means we’re coming to the end of the first month of this garbage year. I spent my week doing a paid test article for a small niche agency, and it wasn’t a fit for me. They felt like it was, and from the outside, that’s probably true. However, this role didn’t match what I’m ultimately looking for, and the workload required to make a decent living was just not doable for me. Just that one test article burned me out and destroyed me. I pulled an all-nighter over it, too.
I’m having enough trouble with my own damn blog as it is, haha.
I have no hard feelings toward them in the slightest. n fact, I’m grateful for the opportunity they gave me to learn more about their niche. The niche was something so far out of my lane of expertise, but I learned a lot when all is said and done. The role just wasn’t going to work for my circumstances.
If they found me a year ago, it would’ve more than likely been a different story.
They truly wouldn’t take no for an answer when I told them this wasn’t a fit for me, asking me why, and arguing with me over it.
In any case, I’m so fuckin sick of this. I’ve been sick of this for a year.
I’m watching the America’s Test Kitchen channel right now as I’m working on this post, and I just watched Chris Kimball drink oils with Adam in the Testing Lab. I’m dead serious. I feel like I’m getting the shits just from watching him.
Anyways, my weekend plans are to continue serving out my job search life sentence, and hunting for content for a new series I’m dropping next week. It’ll be my way of saying ‘fuck you’ to the companies like the ones who contributed to 2021 being the absolute worst year of my life, and destroyed me while my mom was dying in hospice. I’ve also got plans to make something I saw on Instagram yesterday, and I hope it’ll turn out at least halfway decent.
Enough about me. How ’bout you, readers? What are your weekend plans? Trips to the Florida Keys or weekend Disney World trips, I hope? Whatever it is, it’s a million times better than mine, so drop it like it’s hot below, and let’s get the party started.
To ring in the weekend, I’ve got us some links to talk about, share, what have you.
I’ve always loved me some Kung Pao, whether it was tofu, chicken, or beef. This recipe for cauliflower would be so much fun to try out sometime.
I like the idea of emailing a tree. This program went in a totally different direction than expected.
A lovely tribute from Bob Saget’s former rabbi. Here’s the tribute they’re talking about. All the feels, to say the least. It hits home for me, too. I think I’m gonna watch me some Bob Saget stuff this weekend.
Neat idea for meditation and journaling for career alignment. I haven’t journaled since a couple weeks after ‘it’ happened, and I honestly can’t be bothered to do it.
Great piece about garbage from this company that’s putting out kitchen composters that actually do something besides draw bugs, haha.
Ever had an interest in urban legends? This site has ’em all.
This post about how millions of student loan borrowers are eligible for debt discharge through bankruptcy is worth the read. Shock of shocks, there’s some clapback among certain private student loan companies, and their radio silence speaks volumes. I’m even more thankful I never heard back from that lame company when I applied for a job there. They can now officially get bent.
The four ways to create meaningful content. That’s what I hope to do every day with this blog, and if I’m missing the mark, lemme know in the survey or the comments.
Last, but not least, a signal boost for a missing child, this one being long-term missing. The last confirmed sighting of Arieanna Day, of Roanoke, VA was September 11th, 2018. She was 4 months old at the time of her disappearance. An AMBER Alert was issued, but she is still missing. She’s 3 years old now, and will be turning 4 in May. As of the date of this posting, no age-progressed photo is available. If you have any information as to her whereabouts after September 2018, make that call. Let’s make this the year we get Arieanna home to the people who love her.
